The Beast: A Ride Fit for the Commander-in-Chief

When it comes to protecting the President of the United States, the vehicle of choice must be unparalleled in security and resilience. "The Beast," is the U.S. Presidential limousine, a custom engineering piece designed to ensure the safety and command capability of the President under any circumstance.

History & Development

The Birth Of The New Beast appointed by the Secret Service in 2014, "The Beast" marked a new era in presidential security. General Motors (GM) was awarded three contracts to build this next-generation limousine, each initially estimated to cost $1-$1.5 million, but ultimately costing $3 million each. By January 2016, GM had received nearly $16 million for its work on this formidable vehicle. After rigorous testing and camouflage-wrapped prototypes, Cadillac confirmed the vehicle's completion and delivery to the Secret Service. The new model, resembling the Cadillac CT6, officially entered service in late summer 2018, providing unparalleled protection for the President. A least of total of 10 are in service today.

The Front:

Command and Visibility:

The front view of "The Beast" is as imposing as it is functional, with bulletproof, multi-layered glass windows over 5 inches thick. These windows are designed to withstand intense ballistic attacks, ensuring the President’s visibility and safety. Integrated into the front are advanced communication systems providing secure, real-time links to the world. The vehicle also features sensors and night vision cameras, enhancing the driver's situational awareness as well as a "rumored" grenade launcher.

The Side

Fortress on Wheels:

From a side profile, "The Beast" stands as a fortress on wheels. Constructed from military-grade aluminum, titanium, and ceramic, its armor-plated body and 8-inch-thick doors provide an almost impenetrable barrier against explosives and bullets. The vehicle’s design incorporates both space for the President and high-level defensive systems. Its imposing presence underscores the dual focus on aesthetics and maximum security.

Door Handles

Electrifying Defense:

A close look at "The Beast's" door handles reveals a critical defense mechanism. Designed to deliver a high-voltage electric shock, these handles prevent unauthorized access and deter intruders. Crafted to be durable and tamper-resistant, they ensure that only authorized personnel can operate them. This added layer of security helps protect the President within the vehicle.

Wheels

Resilient and Reliable:

"The Beast's" wheels are designed for resilience and reliability, featuring Kevlar-reinforced, run-flat tires. These tires can maintain their functionality even after sustaining significant damage, essential for escaping threats. The reinforced steel rims allow the vehicle to keep moving even if the tires are completely incapacitated. This ensures that the President can be swiftly evacuated from any perilous situation.

Inside The Beast

The Command Center:

Inside "The Beast," the President has access to a state-of-the-art mobile command center. The interior combines security and comfort, with leather seats and advanced communication systems. Secure compartments hold bags of the President's blood type for emergency transfusions. The cabin is sealed to protect against chemical attacks, and defensive tools are ready for deployment if needed.

Defense Capabilities

Ready for Any Threat:

"The Beast" is equipped with an array of defensive capabilities to counteract various threats. Inside, the vehicle is stocked with firearms, including pump-action shotguns and rifles, to provide immediate defensive measures if needed. The limousine can also deploy tear gas and fire grenades to disperse attackers and create a defensive perimeter. Additionally, it can release oil slicks to deter and disable pursuing vehicles, further enhancing its protective measures.

Airlifted

The Beast Takes Flight:

Transporting "The Beast" globally involves loading it onto a cargo aircraft like the C-17 Globemaster III. This ensures the limousine accompanies the President on trips, maintaining its readiness and functionality. The process requires meticulous planning to secure and transport the vehicle safely. This capability allows the President to have consistent protection, regardless of the destination.

"The Beast" is more than just a vehicle; it is a symbol of the extraordinary measures taken to protect the President of the United States. Its combination of cutting-edge technology, impenetrable armor, and advanced defensive systems makes it one of the most secure vehicles in the world. Each feature, from its armor-plated body and electric shock door handles to its run-flat tires and mobile command center, is meticulously designed to ensure the highest level of security and functionality. As "The Beast" accompanies the President on both domestic and international trips/missions, it stands as a testament to the engineering excellence and the commitment to safety that defines.
